Timeless Gets A Two-Hour Finale

In case you hadn't heard, NBC relented and granted us a two-hour wrap-up, to film beginning in October and to air "over the holidays." Whatever that means.

Here is TV Line's list of movie must-haves: Timeless Finale Wishlist.

It includes getting back Rufus, which is an obvious choice. Why else would we demand a third season in the first place if not to resolve the gigantic season two cliffhanger? But it also lists Emma "getting what's coming to her" at the hands of Lucy, which is certainly not on my list. Haven't enough people's lives been ruined/sacrificed? Do we want to see Lucy brought down to Flynn's level, making vengeance her primary motive? How about if Emma gets captured by the newly restored Time Team and is brought to justice instead?

The TV Line writer doesn't care which way the so-called "romantic" triangle is resolved. I can't agree. For one thing, I don't want Lucy to end up with Wyatt. All season long, he acted like a complete dick-brain, toward her and everyone else. Looking back, he wasn't much better in season one, truth be told. I give full credit for that to the crappy writing; nevertheless, I can't see how they can redeem his character arc in the course of a two-hour finale. You'd need at least an entire season for that, maybe longer. At this juncture, Garcia Flynn is not a good choice for Lucy either. Besides taking down Rittenhouse, the only thing that Flynn cares about is the loss of his wife and daughter. His connection to Lucy is through the journal, of course; hers to him is a result of her own losses to the Rittenhouse conspirators. Maybe if we had two or three more seasons, the writers could convince me that Flynn and Lucy belong together, but as things stand, pairing him up with anyone besides his dead wife seems premature. (I'm not expecting to convince anyone of my position on either ship.)

Sadly, Jessica Logan's resurrection was a plot device, and not a very good one. Ditto for her pregnancy. I don't see any way to redeem her either, not in 2 hours.

After getting back Rufus, and defeating Rittenhouse, my next wish would be to find out when and why Future!Lucy made the trip back to 2014 to give the diary to Flynn since that action in effect triggered the current timeline. I am not at all interested in the whys and wherefores of time traveling into your own past. It's clearly possible, so let's have a line or two of dialogue, and get on with it.

Since saving Flynn's family would in effect wipe out the entire timeline that begins with him stealing the Mothership from Mason Industries, and because Emma claimed she made it impossible for Lucy to get Amy back, it would feel like cheating to see either of those outcomes come to pass. Every character (and fan) who loves Rufus will be thrilled by his return. Saving the planet from the nightmare Rittenhouse will become under Emma's leadership will need to be its own reward for everyone else.

What is on your personal wish list for the Timeless movie? Endgame Lyatt? Endgame Garcy? None of the above? (Be honest: isn't her ex-fiancé Dr. Noah looking better and better all the time?)

NBC just cancelled Timeless.

‘Timeless’ Canceled By NBC After 2 Seasons, May Get Series Finale Movie (Deadline.com)

Not a surprise, since the ratings have been abysmal. If you want to contact NBC, to complain about the cancellation and/or beg for the movie, this is the place: Contact Us.

Given how I felt about season two overall, I am not thrilled by the prospect of a two hour wrap-up movie. I didn't like the ridiculous "sleeper agent" plot. I hated the way they wrote Jessica Logan. I despise all romantic triangles. I didn't like the way they got Lucy and Wyatt together just to break them up in the same damned episode. After the way Wyatt behaved toward Lucy and the rest of the team, I can hardly look at the man's face, let alone ship him with Lucy. Endgame Wyatt and Lucy? After everything he's done? No, thank you. The very idea of it makes me feel queasy. You would need to rehabilitate his character completely to make me feel okay about that ship. I don't see that happening in two hours, minus the commercial breaks.

Unless Flynn desperately wants his wife and kid back, his actions in season one are entirely unjustified, turning him back into a villain. This makes no sense given his season two character arc, so matter how much I love Goran, I won't ship Flynn with Lucy either (honestly, Dr. Noah is looking better all of the time). But that's not the problem because shipping is not my thing anyway. What I loved about Timeless was the team dynamic: Lucy, Rufus and Wyatt traveling through time together and trying to save the world. Once Flynn joined their team, that was gone for good.

AND THEN THOSE ASSHATS KILLED RUFUS.

I don't see how a two-hour movie, written by these same ~~idiots~~ people, can fix the mess they've made.

We still haven't received any word from NBC. The poor writers have run out of missing scenes, so now they are rewarding the fandom with script pages in return for keeping the pressure on NBC.

In the meantime, I would like to encourage everyone to sign up for everywoman, a multi-fandom fanworks exchange focused on female characters. The minimum word count for fic is only 500 words; for art, whatever the equivalent would be, perhaps a nice sketch. You can request/offer fic and/or art.

If you're on the Twitter (I am not), then you already know this: the Timeless writing staff is releasing deleted scenes in response to set numbers of #timeless tweets per day.

The Timeless writers are sharing deleted scenes (that KISS!) until NBC decides to renew Timeless (Hypable)

I haven't watched "the kiss" because I'm still too mad at Wyatt, but I did watched the scene from 2x01. Yikes! We now know what Carol meant when she told Lucy that Rittenhouse was hers for the taking.

So, by the confusing and inconsistent Timeless Rules of Time-Travel, does that mean that if Flynn had gone ahead and killed David Rittenhouse's son, John, Lucy would cease exist when she traveled back to the present? Or would her physical body and memories of the prior timeline remain, but her personal history would be wiped out? I think someone wrote fic about a similar scenario. It was good, too.

Catching up on Season 2

Slowly but surely catching up and have recently watched episodes three through five. I really did like Hollywoodland, except for the ending, which, unfortunately, could be seen coming from a mile away. What the next two episodes did was make me rethink my Lucy/Wyatt preference. From his behavior, I'm beginning to think that he's not smart enough for Lucy, that, with time, the attraction would fade as their differences became more apparent.

I can't remember, but at any time did Wyatt confess that he and Jessica fought a lot? Going by her reaction, it wouldn't be hard to believe. Especially since he did leave her to walk home alone. That's not something most men would do; they'd insist that you get back into the car. Is his great love really his guilt speaking? Because he's awfully willing to overlook the fact that Rittenhouse is probably behind Jessica's coming back from the dead.

I'm not a hardcore Lucy/Flynn yet, but I'm getting there.

This is it. Our last chance to show NBC how much we want this show renewed.

The Timeless two-hour finale airs Sunday, May 13 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. On the other hand, in Canada, Global will air the first hour Sunday at 10 p.m. ET, the second hour Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET. That's messed up.

Do I need to put up two discussion posts? Is there anyone here who watches on Global?

First: where did everyone go? I'm feeling lonely.

Second: why are there no Garcia Flynn icons anywhere to be found? Or icons of Flynn and Lucy, for that matter? I was forced to make a Flynn icon for myself--or do without. I can't be the only person in the fandom who's been harboring a secret crush on Goran Višnjić since he starred in ER.

Third (and final) question: Who do you think is a better soldier, Garcia Flynn or Wyatt Logan? Are you glad that Rufus and Wyatt went back for Flynn or you think the world would be a better place if they'd abandoned him in 1934?

Am I being a bad fangirl if I admit that these sneak peeks of "Hollywoodland" did not make me feel that excited? I don't get it. If they felt that compelled to tell this particular story, why couldn't these highly paid professionals come up with a more plausible way to approach it?
