In case you hadn't heard, NBC relented and granted us a two-hour wrap-up, to film beginning in October and to air "over the holidays." Whatever that means.
Here is TV Line's list of movie must-haves: Timeless Finale Wishlist.
It includes getting back Rufus, which is an obvious choice. Why else would we demand a third season in the first place if not to resolve the gigantic season two cliffhanger? But it also lists Emma "getting what's coming to her" at the hands of Lucy, which is certainly not on my list. Haven't enough people's lives been ruined/sacrificed? Do we want to see Lucy brought down to Flynn's level, making vengeance her primary motive? How about if Emma gets captured by the newly restored Time Team and is brought to justice instead?
The TV Line writer doesn't care which way the so-called "romantic" triangle is resolved. I can't agree. For one thing, I don't want Lucy to end up with Wyatt. All season long, he acted like a complete dick-brain, toward her and everyone else. Looking back, he wasn't much better in season one, truth be told. I give full credit for that to the crappy writing; nevertheless, I can't see how they can redeem his character arc in the course of a two-hour finale. You'd need at least an entire season for that, maybe longer. At this juncture, Garcia Flynn is not a good choice for Lucy either. Besides taking down Rittenhouse, the only thing that Flynn cares about is the loss of his wife and daughter. His connection to Lucy is through the journal, of course; hers to him is a result of her own losses to the Rittenhouse conspirators. Maybe if we had two or three more seasons, the writers could convince me that Flynn and Lucy belong together, but as things stand, pairing him up with anyone besides his dead wife seems premature. (I'm not expecting to convince anyone of my position on either ship.)
Sadly, Jessica Logan's resurrection was a plot device, and not a very good one. Ditto for her pregnancy. I don't see any way to redeem her either, not in 2 hours.
After getting back Rufus, and defeating Rittenhouse, my next wish would be to find out when and why Future!Lucy made the trip back to 2014 to give the diary to Flynn since that action in effect triggered the current timeline. I am not at all interested in the whys and wherefores of time traveling into your own past. It's clearly possible, so let's have a line or two of dialogue, and get on with it.
Since saving Flynn's family would in effect wipe out the entire timeline that begins with him stealing the Mothership from Mason Industries, and because Emma claimed she made it impossible for Lucy to get Amy back, it would feel like cheating to see either of those outcomes come to pass. Every character (and fan) who loves Rufus will be thrilled by his return. Saving the planet from the nightmare Rittenhouse will become under Emma's leadership will need to be its own reward for everyone else.
What is on your personal wish list for the Timeless movie? Endgame Lyatt? Endgame Garcy? None of the above? (Be honest: isn't her ex-fiancé Dr. Noah looking better and better all the time?)

My "want list" for the film?
Well, first and foremost, I want Rufus returned to us alive, and well, and reunited with Jiya.
And I want Rittenhouse defeated, once and for all.
I very much do want a Lucy / Flynn endgame - been rooting for that for quite some time. I'd rather they not bring back his wife and child, unless somehow the timeline alters in such a way, that Lucy turns out to be his wife, and the child is theirs. Not everyone's cup of tea, of course, but this type of storyline would please me. If not that, than perhaps end the series with Flynn and Lucy growing closer, with the implied promise that they'll eventually become a couple.
Regarding Emma - Like you, I don't want to see our Lucy brought down to her level. And I agree, I prefer Emma be brought to justice (rather than killed), or barring that, perhaps the timeline changes, and in the new one, she never becomes part of Rittenhouse, and can just be a peaceful scientist.
I want happy endings for Denise and her family, and also for Connor (I've become very fond of these characters).
Would prefer not to see the return of Amy as a character (at this point, I feel she's a plot / motivation device for Lucy, just like Flynn's family is for him). Jessica and her baby-to-be also (to me) seem like plot devices, but I'd still prefer Wyatt ends up with them, and not with Lucy.

It is. This fandom won't quit fighting for a third season, so get your friends to watch, if you haven't already. The more demand there is for seasons one and two, the more likely it is that another platform will pick it up.

Understandable. That sounds like a pretty radical change in the timeline to effect in the course of a two-hour finale but I am pretty sure there is fic for that--or if there isn't, there will be in the future. ♥

TV babies are always plot devices, aren't they? It's hard for me to imagine how to work it out that Wyatt and/or Jessica get a happy ending, but maybe these writers will come up with something. That's why they're making the big bucks. My best effort stalled out with Jessica in prison and Wyatt raising his daughter alone. Rufus and Jiya will be together, for sure. Lucy and Flynn? We'll just have to wait and see. I want the explanation for the diary more than anything now. If they leave that unexplained, I'll be pissed off.

And - it would be lovely if another network, or other platform picks the series up for that 3rd season we all want to see!

And another reason to look forward to the Holidays is good. :-)

Save Rufus, definitely. I agree - I want to know why Lucy went back to give Garcia Flynn the journal.
I think Emma is a liar and I definitely feel like Lucy has to save her sister too for me to be really satisfied.
Connor Mason redemption (a fuller one) would be nice if we got a whole season, but tbh I don't want to focus on him if we only get 2 hours. I wish there would be no relationship stuff (except brief happy Jiya/Rufus reunion) at all, for reasons that you describe, and also resolving a 'love triangle' would be such a boring thing to waste time on. In strictly fanon terms, I ship Lucy/Wyatt/Garcia or Wyatt/Garcia or Lucy/Wyatt/Rufus/Jiya, but none of those are going to happen. I do think they'll waste a lot of time on Lucy/Wyatt stuff, which is fine but not as interesting as the other stuff on the show.

That's for sure item three on my list. Lucy's journal in Flynn's hand is a fundamental element that they've been teasing since the pilot--since the first scene in which Flynn appears, really.

You may be right but Lord, I hope not. Right now he doesn't deserve her. Plus, boring.

She is! I hope you're right and I'm wrong. Lucy deserves to get Amy back but we don't always get what we want or deserve.

I actually do not care anymore at this point. I am eternally bitter that they killed Rufus, whether they'll now half-assedly attempt to get him back or not.
Same with Wyatt - he's an idiot and Lucy deserves better. Flynn hasn't had enough good character development to pair him with anyone but his dead wife. Which would be awesome, come to think of it. Bring his dead wife and son back and at least make one person happy.
I guess I'll watch it, just to see Rufus again, but that's going to be it.

There was a delay in between when I found out last week and when I put up the post. When I first heard I was a little irritated actually. They screwed up so many characters last season that I figured they could never put Humpty-Dumpty back together again. But I never stopped thinking about the show--I was in four Facebook groups which went nuts before and especially after the cancellation. Plus I was trying to write that crack!fic. (I gave up and started another prompt which unfortunately I don't have enough time to finish. This is how I know I'm a writer: I'm more more bitter about my plot being ruined by their shenanigans than I am about anything else that happened during the season. *g*)
Bring his dead wife and son back and at least make one person happy.
That would be awesome but I don't see how they can do that without changing everything: the death of Flynn's family plus Future!Lucy giving him her journal is the foundation upon which the rest of the series rests. Paradoxically, everything Flynn tried failed despite his having the journal. Maybe Dana Scully (The X-Files!) was right: in each universe there is only one possible outcome, which may be why they had better luck taking down Rittenhouse in the present day, through legal action.

I am bitter, too, though to be fair, the writers telegraphed it all season long with Jiya's visions. Surely getting him back will be job one. The writers have a few months to mull it over so they had better get it right.
My brain is hurting. Time travel is hard to wrap my head around, especially now that they're breaking the rule that you can't travel back into your own time stream.
